About the Pradel
The Pradel takes its name from a family of cutlers from the hamlet of Pradel, near Celles-sur-Durolle in the Thiers valley. Developed in the 1860s from an English model, with a concave bolster that makes it easy to recognize, it became the everyday knife of sailors and farmers in Normandy and Brittany, and its name came to stand for a whole type of knife.
Thiers-Issard makes it again in the style of that period: an 11 cm Sandvik 12C27 stainless blade, a nickel silver bolster and a stainless spring decorated by hand.

Care
- Wipe the blade clean and dry after use, especially after cutting fruit or cheese.
- Put a drop of oil in the joint between blade and spring about once a month.
- Keep wooden and horn handles away from long soaking; a little oil now and then keeps wood lively.
- Hone the edge on a fine stone or ceramic rod.
